TWEAKS.

Making small little changes, can result in huge progress!
We have way too much bias when it comes to ourselves. We think our form is perfect because it may feel right. But then you have a good friend give you a few pointers, tweak some things, and BOOM! it's a complete game changer!

The first video is going for a bench press with what I thought was good form...
The second video is after a buddy tweaked a few things (foot position, grip, and barbell positioning). We need these types of friends in our lives! 
We need the friends who are going to give the pointers and tweaks in our form, our prayer, our relationships, etc! 👇Tag your friend who helps "tweak" you into the best version of yourself 👇

The extra rest day on my lower body has been great, and I hit my three projected squat attempts cleanly, despite still being a little tight. This is technically my last real squat day (one more SBD opener day and one warmup day) before the meet, and I can say my squat will be flying once I'm at 100%. @its_blasian making sure I don't die. VC's @warari.chuck and @mxvera2. Weighing 180.8lb this morning.

They mistake making the Lumbar Spine Neutral with hyperextending the Lumbar Spine as they want to have a ‘flat back’ or ‘straight back’

On the whiteboard, I drew up what the Lumbar Spine specifically, looks like when it’s it flexion, hyperflexion, extension, hyperextension and what is OK (or safe) and what is NOT OK (not safe) .

Remember that extension of the Lumbar Spine when Deadlifting is what you should be looking for and then ensuring that you brace correctly to support and stabilise the Lumbar Spine .

On the whiteboard, I drew up what the Lumbar Spine specifically, looks like when it’s it flexion, hyperflexion, extension, hyperextension and what is OK (or safe) and what is NOT OK (not safe) . . Remember that extension of the Lumbar Spine when Deadlifting is what you should be looking for and then ensuring that you brace correctly to support and stabilise the Lumbar Spine . . Enjoy ✌🏻

About one year ago (my first year lifting) I attempted to deadlift 405 and not only did I fail but I injured myself in the process I fell on the floor and couldn't get up and I limped the entire week and couldn't even bend over to pick up a pencil let alone pick up 135 without a sharp pain running down my lower back I lost motivation to continue lifting when my warm ups were now impossible to even lift it didn't help that I never got it checked out fast forward 6 months later and I could pick up 315 but with a lot of pain still so I decided to take another 6 months off of deadlifts i was finally tired of the pain and seeing everyone else do what I couldn't so I finally decided to go all out even though I currently have a sprained wrist but I decided that I wasn't gonna let that get in the way I warmed up to 315 with barely to no back pain and i couldn't believe it I threw on 355 and it flew up and then 365 and same thing happened and then 405 the same weight that put me out and it was intimidating and scary but I decided to give it everything I had i ended up getting a 425 pr while being fatigued I'm finally able to start lifting at 100% I still get a small tweak in my back here and there but I look at the words on the shirt I wear and what it represents I truly try to embody what it means to dominate humbly

Knee surgery is pushed back yet again, as the VA is not always 100% reliable. And no outpatient surgery for my slipped disc any time soon either! .
The wrecking ball of hurt known as Daniel will just continue to grind on. Pushing for that 1000lbs club...in a few weeks I’ll go for max outs and should get it! I’ll catch up @dave_w93 .

5x5 errrthang kinda day. By far one of my favourite rep schemes to train at for the longest time as it’s the perfect hybrid of strength and hypertrophy, incorporating the best of both worlds. I was literally astounded by the fact that 80kg for a 5x5 was light work.

At the beginning of the year I would struggle hard just to get a double with this weight. My bench is going up like crazy lately, and I’ve managed to work my way back into a wider grip, turning my chest from a weak point to one of my strongest during the course of 8 months.😊

The slingshot has been the best thing that’s happened for me, as it literally allows me to double my volume each week without causing any excess neuromuscular fatigue.🙌

Deadlifts didn’t feel as bad i was expecting today. Finally pulling heavier with conventional and getting more used to it. 
1st Video: 355x2. Not too heavy, but enough to let me get a better feel for conventional and getting the motions down. 
2nd Video: 375x1 on blocks. Which is actually a Block PR for me. Wasn’t the easiest pull but glad to get it up. 
Can’t wait to see where the switch from sumo to conventional takes me. Only up from here. 🔥

3 Tips for Benching:⁣
⁣
1. Eyes under bar - this will help you lift in the correct bar path and clear the pegs. ⁣
⁣
2. Grip - place the bar lower in your hands (think the base of your palms, not the middle) to prevent your wrists from bending backwards. ⁣
⁣
3. Tuck your elbows! To reduce stress on your shoulders you should tuck your elbows in to about 45° from your body. Doesn’t have to be exact but find what’s comfortable. What ever you do...do NOT flare them out at 90°. If you get sore shoulders after benching, flaring shoulders at 90° could be your issue. Try bringing your elbows a little bit closer to your body next time. ⁣Experiment with different positions to see what feels right for you.

I’m a lot... like A LOT... and I know it. But it wasn’t until I felt some of it slipping away that I realized just how much I love the things that make me that way.

I’m the most confident and insecure person you’ll ever meet. I will dance & sing every second I am in my car but no where else.

I’m loud.. talk way too much, over use “i love you,” but I genuinely try to make everything and everyone feel special.

I find humor in the small things and will laugh for days about it.. I still can’t get through the muffin joke without crying (if you know, you know). I will find the positive in EVERYTHING but I also find extreme sadness in small things and will let it penetrate my heart for days.

I get tunnel visioned and focus on something until its done perfectly. My planner is my world, it’s color coded and has stickers that sparkle. But i’ll never miss your birthday... lol.

I apologize. Then i’ll apologize for apologizing and then i’ll over think how insane I sound for all of the above.

I’ll preach self care but stay up late replaying an old conversation 20 times until I find something that made me sound awkward af.. then I’ll worry about it until I... you guessed it.. apologize.

I over love... literally I avoid stepping on rollie pollies on the sidewalks, make genuine friends with pigs in foreign countries and will relentlessly ask you how I can help until you give me an answer.

I make a huge deal out of everything. Every song is my favorite song. Every dessert is the best one i’ve literally EVER had.. EVER!

I need to be super stimulated intellectually. Small talk doesn’t do it for me. I want to know your LIFE and how you FEEL about it.

I’m all over the place but my favorite of those places is sitting on the couch watching football with my family.. because when I’m safe & happy.. I’m CHILL.

There has to be more of you out there feeling like you’re “too much” and “not enough” at the same time and I’m here to tell you the world needs you. I know your empathy takes a toll on you. I know you’re tired of the worry.. of everything. But you are rare. You’re special and the world needs your heart. Y’all if this is you.. don’t ever lose it. ❤️

Todays deadlift session had a little surprise for me 🔥

Took a 475 single and it moved faster then anticipated so I threw on another 10 lbs to make it 485 @ 6. For my backdown sets I took my 3x7 @ 395 @ 6. Time to keep going a crush these workouts 💪🏻
